Description

Abundant, a tetraploid annual ryegrass, can be a very valuable tool for the Northern farmer. Because annual and perennial ryegrasses establish so easily, they are well suited for pasture renovation and minor field repairs. Readily adaptable to broadcast plantings, ryegrass can be spread anytime of the year. Annual ryegrass is especially beneficial as a companion, establishment or booster crop.

Abundant’s rapid response to supplemental fertilization and ability to recycle animal wastes into highly productive forage makes it an excellent choice. Its protein content is in the 12-12% range, depending on the amount of nitrogen applied and the harvest growth stage.

Abundant has increased plant size, wider more succulent leaves and larger plant cells with higher sugar content than diploid annual ryegrasses. Abundant is highly resistant to the major diseases including crown and leaf rust, leaf spot and scald, powdery mildew and pythium blight.
