Kentucky Bluegrass

Kentucky Bluegrass is a fine to medium textured turfgrass that is grown widely throughout the temperate region of the United States and Canada. Adapted to mowing heights of 1 to 2.5 inches, Kentucky Bluegrass is used in commercial and residential situations, athletic fields and on golf course tees, fairways and roughs.

Kentucky bluegrasses spread naturally by underground roots called "rhizomes." This makes them excellent self-repairers. However, they are also apomictic, meaning that a single seed of a particular cultivar, like Arcadia, is identical to all the other seeds found in that cultivar. This makes bluegrass very uniform. But, for optimal disease resistance, we recommend using at least two different types of bluegrass in blends, like our Turf Perfect® line-up.
